Mineral Resources has a proud history of innovating and adapting to changing environments where we live and work. But no one could have predicted the impact of COVID-19 across the world – including the areas where our company operates.
Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic is driven by the care and discipline shown by every member of our workforce. It hasn’t always been easy, but every action we’ve taken has been designed to keep our people safe and our operations running.
Central to our plan was to launch what has become arguably the largest and most sophisticated private sector COVID-19 screening program in Australia.
In 2019 we secured world-class, US-made and gold standard COVID testing equipment capable of performing PCR-SARS-CoV-2 tests.
We also engaged independent National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited pathology laboratories, built a team of over 40 trained nurses and collectors, and opened screening facilities across Perth and regional Western Australia.
COVID-19 swab screening became a mandatory part of our fit-for-work regime – applicable to anyone attending a Mineral Resources site or working for our company on a client site. Screening services were also offered to other resource companies to support continuity within the Western Australian mining industry.
Together with state-of-the art Bluetooth contact tracing technology and increased hygiene measures across our sites and offices – we continue doing all we can to limit the impacts of COVID-19 on our people and operations.
Mineral Resources is also in regular contact with industry and government departments, sharing knowledge and working together on new solutions. This includes our input to the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy COVID-19 Working Group.
As an important contributor to the Western Australian and national economies, we continue working with governments to ensure our operations help support industry and society during these challenging times.
